'And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.' - Roman's 12:2
It was late in the day when I looked at an encouraging post. The post encouraged reading the word of God, exchanging unhealthy eating habits for healthy ones and engaging in physical activity.
I told myself, 'I wished I'd seen the post before quickly heading out the door yesterday' but then realized I can start my day again and use the words of advice.
My mind thought about habits and the time it takes to make them a regular routine. Even with consistency, I might miss a day engaging in a good habit. Different people say different things about how long it takes a person to form a habit. Some say it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make a permanent life change.
I'm glad our God can help us do things that are beneficial. I'm thankful for the nudging of his Holy Spirit as He gently reminds us of something that needs our attention.
I've learned living a Christian life involves a constant renewal of the mind. And when I don't 'feel' like doing a good thing like reading the bible, I know I need to push pass this feeling and do what is right.
'For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.' -Ephesians 6:12
'We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.' -2 Corinthians 10:5
A week before the Jewish new year, I decided to pray earlier than my usual prayer time. I felt myself in the mood of not praying and sensed this was spiritual attack to stop praying to God. I pushed through the feeling and decided this time I wasn't going to back down and forfeit what was taking place behind the senses. I know God is always working behind the scenes although my mind and eyes want to inform me otherwise.
What a faithful God we have. May he help us to push through and do what needs to be done- when it needs to be done. May we obey him willingly and take delight to please him. May he use our lives as a testimony to witness to people within and outside our sphere of influence for the glory of his name. Many blessings.
